Brandon Brown Wins Pro-Am With Course Record 62

26 07 2008

Brandon Brown shot a competitive course record 8 under par 62 to win the professional division of the 2008 Herman Norton Pro-Am.  Brown, from Shelbyville, plays on the NGA Hooters Professional Tour.  He finished sixth on Hooter’s money list in 2007.  Stever Landrum, golf pro at Meadowood Golf Course, finished second with a 65, that included a rare double eagle on the par 5 11th hole.  There was a three way tie for third in the professional competition, with Tyler Wilson, Brett Jones and David Shearer all at 66.

In the Pro-Am Team competition, pro David Shearer led his team (Eric Fulner, Marcus Camacho, Katie Harrison and Jerry McDonald) to a 16 under 124.  Shearer, a former NKU player now living in Glendale, Arizona, plays on the Gateway Tour.  On the second place team at 126 were pro Brandon Brown, Lowell Workman, Justin Blaze, Carl Wenderoth and Brandon Kramer.  On the third place team at 127 were pro Jason Fryia (from the Golf Exchange in Florence) Lindsey Bevill, Tyler Jones, Glenn Singleton and Bob Day.

In the pro-am tournament format, each pro, A and B player played their own ball, and the C & D players played a 2-person scramble.  Out of the four scores, the team played the best two scores on each hole.
