Eagle Creek Golfers Contend at NCAA DII Regionals

NKU senior, and Eagle Creek golfer, Alicia Lawrence shot a six over par 78 (78-78 – 156) in round two, leaving her tied for seventh going into Wednesday’s final round of the 2008 NCAA DII Women’s East Regional.  That left Lawrence just four strokes off the lead.  The Norse women’s team finished the second of three days in fifth place (663).  Play concludes Wednesday May 7 at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Michigan.  The top two teams will advance to the NCAA DII Women’s Golf Championships, held in Houston, Texas, as a part of the NCAA DII Spring National Championships Festival, May 13-16.   If the Norse fail to qualify as a team, Lawrence is in contention to capture one of the two available individual at-large bids from the East Regional.  For live scoring throughout the regional tournament go to golfstat.com.

On Tuesday, NKU senior, and Eagle Creek golfer, Carl Hays shot a 1-under par 71 (75-71 – 146), leaving him tied for eighth.  NKU freshman Danny Lewis fired a 2-under par 70 (71-70 – 141) to end the day in second place, five shots off the lead.  The men’s golf team (595) finished day two in fourth place just eight strokes off the lead at the NCAA DII Great Lakes Valley Regional.  Play concludes May 7 at Red Hawk Run Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio.  For live scoring throughout the tournament go to golfstat.com.
